Savory Oatmeal: It is unbelievably delicious – it transforms oatmeal from the mundane to the magnificent! It almost tastes like serving delicious risotto for breakfast.
All amounts are estimated (adjust to personal preference):
- 1 cup freshly cooked oatmeal (we like bob’s red mill)
- Freshly chopped basil
- A sprinkle of cayenne pepper
- ½ ounce of chopped cheese (habanero pepper jack or any other variety)
- ½ ounce of chopped walnuts (or other kinds of nuts – preferably toasted, if you aren’t using walnuts, for the deeper flavor)
- Pinch of sea salt
- Freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 slice crispy bacon (crumbled or chopped), or 1 ounce chopped ham
- Prepare oatmeal according to directions, chop all of the toppings and then sprinkle or spoon all ingredients on top of the hot oatmeal and enjoy!
